1 Day Workshop
Instructor: Julia Benson-Slaughter
$185
If you love chains, especially intricate chains, but hate soldering, this is the workshop for you. Chainmaille is portable, requires no equipment other than a set of pliers, and can be mixed with other jewelry-making techniques to create unique designs.
We’ll learn the mechanics of chainmaille by making a Byzantine bracelet and earrings. Along the way, we’ll discuss some of the technical aspects of chainmaille – materials, aspect ratio, wire gauge, equipment – to let you decipher the many, many tutorials and patterns out there. We’ll end by seeing just how many rings we can link into each other to make a tactilely satisfying Mobius fidget ball.
No jewelry experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome!
If you have your own favorite pliers WITHOUT TEETH, feel free to bring them. If not, the studio has plenty. Materials for two projects are included in the workshop cost, and additional materials will be available for purchase.
Bring a lunch, or we can order in.
