Recycle, Refine, Reimagine: Turning Scrap Silver into New Sheet

With the current rising cost of silver — learning to recycle what you already have is no longer just a nice bonus, it’s a powerful studio skill.

In this hands-on workshop, students will bring in their own scrap silver and learn how to transform it into fresh, usable material. We’ll cover the full process: melting scrap silver down, pouring clean ingots, and rolling those ingots into new recycled sheet ready for future projects.

Introduction to Jewelry Casting

Thursday Morning 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Beginners Welcome!
8 weeks
Instructor : Andres Cardenas

$355.00

Lost wax casting is the cornerstone technique for creating detailed, durable, and reproducible metal pieces, used by artisans and major designers alike.

Over the course of this class, you will be guided through the fascinating lost-wax casting process from start to finish. The journey begins with sculpting your design in specialized jeweler's wax, where you'll learn to carve, shape, and add fine detail. You'll then prepare your wax model for its transformation, embedding it in an investment flask to create a mold.

The true magic happens at the casting station, where you'll witness the alchemy of molten metal flowing into the cavity left by your "lost" wax.

The final stage brings your piece to life through finishing techniques: sawing off sprues, filing, sanding, and polishing your casting to a professional shine.

Open Studio Hours:

$50.00 a month

Since Open Studio hours will be limited in the Marietta studio, (as the schedule works itself out) rather than charging an hourly fee for open studio, I am going to start out with a monthly fee. This monthly fee will allow access to as many hours as you would like. There will be 2 sessions of open studio per week for December. These sessions will be 3 hours at a time.

PLEASE NOTE: Open studio hours are for students who need access to the studio to WORK INDEPENDENTLY. There is no instruction during open studio.
