Crisp Corners: Mastering Bezel Settings for Angular Stones
August 22, 2026
Saturday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
One Day Workshop
Instructor: Beth Kirtland
$185.00
Ready to level up your stone setting skills? In this hands-on workshop, we’re diving into one of the trickiest (and most satisfying!) techniques in metalsmithing: creating clean, crisp bezel corners—even on stones with sharp angles.
If you’ve ever struggled with bulky corners, gaps, or bezels that just won’t behave… this class is for you.
What You’ll Learn:
We’ll break down the process step-by-step so you can confidently tackle square, rectangular, and angular stones:
-
How to form bezel strip tightly around sharp corners without distortion
-
Techniques for achieving clean, precise angles instead of rounded or bunched-up corners
-
How to properly fit and refine your bezel before soldering
-
The secret to removing excess material at the corners so your bezel folds over smoothly (no more chunky, lumpy edges!)
-
Tips for a clean, professional-looking stone setting
What You’ll Make:
Students will create a bezel setting using an angular stone, focusing on precision and clean craftsmanship. This can be incorporated into a ring or a pendant or saved as a sample for future work.
The examples shown feature multiple stones and finished pieces, but class time will focus on mastering the process. Most students should plan to complete one bezel setting during the workshop.
Skill Level:
Intermediate. Students should have basic soldering experience and prior bezel setting knowledge.
Why This Class Matters:
Corners are where things go wrong—but they’re also where your work can really shine. Once you understand how to control the metal at those tight angles, your settings will instantly look more polished and professional.
1 stone per student will be provided (cabochon with sharp corners), and more will be available for purchase.
Fine silver bezel strip will be available for purchase as well.
