Cut, Texture & Connect: From Start to Finish

In this hands-on, one-day workshop, we’ll explore the magic of transforming flat metal into finished, wearable jewelry.
No prior metalsmithing experience required—just come ready to play.
Students will begin by selecting from a wide variety of shapes in copper and brass—cut using professional disc cutters for clean, precise forms. If you’d like to work in silver, demonstrations will be provided during class so you can see the disc cutting process in action while your shapes are created for you. Students are also welcome to bring their own sterling silver sheet (recommended: 24 gauge).
From there, we’ll bring those shapes to life by adding texture using a variety of materials, interesting patterns, subtle finishes, and everything in between.
Once your components are ready, you’ll learn how to make your own custom jump rings using a jump ring maker. You’ll create perfectly sized connections to link your pieces together into earrings, pendants, or bracelets—whatever you’re inspired to design.
This workshop is all about creativity, exploration, and building confidence with tools in a relaxed, supportive environment. Whether you prefer simple, modern shapes or layered, textured designs, you’ll leave with several finished pieces and the skills to keep creating at home.
A required materials kit will be available for purchase ($20)
from the instructor and includes copper and brass sheet, some previously cut shapes, coordinating wire, a stencil, and detailed handouts. Students will be able to select from a variety of pre-cut shapes as well as choose additional custom shapes in their preferred sizes and metals during the workshop.
Additional brass and copper sheet will be available for purchase.
There will also be sterling silver ear wires, sterling silver posts and sterling silver lobster clasps available for purchase.
If you wish to work in silver please plan to bring (at minimum a 3” x 3” sheet) 24g Sterling Silver sheet and 18g & or 20g silver wire.
